Justin Bieber: My World Tour

"Bieber Fever" is an international epidemic so it was no shocker that when the 2010 My World Tour pulled into Denver, CO on July 8th thousands of Justin Bieber's biggest fans were burning up with anticipation. As one of this summer's hottest acts in Pop music the show was sold out weeks in advance and radio station ticket give-away's solicited near manic crowds desperate to snatch some of the last available seats. The sixteen year old heart throb is in such demand that even reviewer tickets were denied to press and only photo pit access was granted. But who am I kidding you don't want to read what I have to say about JB, you'd rather see his pictures. Thankfully I was front and center for the first three songs of his set as well as opener, Sean Kingston so you can peep a VIP glimpse of Bieber Mania in action.
Kingston brought his typical island suave to the stage but it felt a little underwhelming as he lazily sauntered from one side to the other relying heavily on pre-recorded samples of his vocals as well as his dj and back up band and singers.  He did manage to rally the crowd while performing his 2007 hit single 'Take You There' generating some momentum for the remainder of his set.

When it was finally time for Justin to take the stage the teen laden crowd eagerly chanted his name. Shrill screams filled the arena as the screen behind his set illuminated with a 10 second countdown. Bieber was lifted onto the stage in dense, billowing smoke through an elevator shaft centered by a steel framed ball. The steel cage was lifted and the smoke cleared revealing the teen Pop sensation dressed in white accented by a purple hoodie and shoes. He immediately hit the stage with heavily choreographed movement singing "Love Me". Fans and admirers were mesmerized and sang in unison with Bieber's perfectly pitched vocals.
His charm and charisma characterized the trio of songs I was privileged to photograph. And despite the fact that I haven't been hit with the "Bieber Fever" on a personal level I could easily recognize the talent and sparkle that has catapulted him to a place of prominence in pop culture. He is quite possibly comparable to the late King of Pop. Only time will tell.
