Los Angeles -- Music's biggest night, the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, aired live Sunday night, Feb. 13, bringing together the biggest acts in music to receive their awards and support theirfellow artists. As always, the fashion was fierce, and style mavens like Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj didn't disappoint. Nicki Minaj arrived in a one-of-a-kind Givenchy gown and two-foot beehive hairpiece reminiscent of a lioness.
Just when you thought you've seen it all, Lady Gaga arrives in an egg. Yes, in an egg. An entourageof men and women dressed in alien-like attire carried an opaque egg on a raft with Lady Gaga"incubating in embryonic stage" within, apparently breathing from an oxygen tank. Gaga wasn't "born" until her Grammy performance, where she emerged on stage singing her new anthem, "Born This Way."
The show opened with a star-studded tribute to 18-time Grammy Award winner Aretha Franklin with Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams and Christina Aguilera, who took a tumble as the cameras pulled away.
There were also performances by Bruno Mars, Justin Beiber, Usher, Bob Dylan, Lady Antebellum, Katy Perry, Mick Jagger, Barbra Streisand and more. Cee-Lo offered audiences an unforgettable rendition of his hit "Forget You" dressed as a giant red bird, along with Gwenyth Paltrow and The Muppets. Rihanna belted out "Love the Way You Lie Part 2" along with Eminem and Adam Levine on piano, who were later joined by Dr. Dre, then came back to a fiery performance of "What's My Name."
The 2011 Grammy Awards ended with two Arcade Fire performances and their win of the coveted Album of the Year award. Lady Antebellum swept the night with five wins, including both Song and Record of the Year. The 2011 Grammy Awards was full of amazing performances and wild fashion -- a night that will not soon be forgotten.
