Chord has stated his unusual name is because "my dad is in the music business as a songwriter. I was the third one in my family born, and there are three notes in a chord, so that's how they came up with my name." He has another sibling with a musical name, Harmony, as well as siblings Nash, Summer, Skye, and Charity.
Chord's older brother Nash is the lead guitarist of the pop/rock band Hot Chelle Rae.

Chord Overstreet stars in "Glee" on FOX as Sam, an athlete at McKinley High. Sam starts out as Finn's (Cory Monteith) protégé, but it's not long before Sam becomes his competition.
Chord Overstreet has made a guest appearance on "iCarly" and in the pilot for ABC's "No Ordinary Family" as Lucas Fisher. He will also be in the feature film, "Warrior" (2011), starring Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Gabrielle Anwar.
He is a 21-year-old country singer who also plays the piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums. He also enjoys baseball, martial arts, football, soccer and golf.
